India, Maldives MoU for cooperation in field of tourism got government approval

The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Union Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Tourism of Government of Maldives.The MoU was signed to strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism and under it Maldives will be instrumental in increasing arrival from this important source market.

It will encourage cooperation between tourism stakeholders, including tour operators and hotels. It aims to promote safe honourable and sustainable tourism and to participate in travel exhibitions/fairs in each other's country.

Union Cabinet approved National Capital Goods Policy 2016

The Union Cabinet on 25 May 2016 approved the National Capital Goods Policy 2016. This is first ever policy for Capital Goods sector with a clear objective of increasing production of capital goods from 2.3 lakh crore rupees in 2014-15 to 7.5 lakh crore rupees in 2025. This is to increase the share of Capital goods contribution from present 12 to 20 percent of total manufacturing activity by 2025.

To achieve the above objectives the policy proposed a new scheme Heavy Industry Export & Market Development Assistance Scheme (HIEMDA) on pilot basis, Technology Development Fund under PPP model, Start-up centre for capital goods sector. The National Capital Goods Policy 2016 will be reviewed every five years and revised appropriately to take account of progress in implementation and emerging trends in the national and international environment.

New website of Ministry of AYUSH and web portal for IDY launched.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shri Shripad Yesso Naik launched the new website of the Ministry of AYUSH and web portal for International Day of Yoga(IDY) in New Delhi. The website http://ayush.gov.in has been developed as part of digital India programme, using content management framework (CMF) approach.

The website is compliant with Government guidelines with Government guidelines for Websites (GIGW) and it is developed on open source platform by National Informatics Centre (NIC). The new portal for International Day of Yoga (IDY) has a provision for news to provide all the updated and relevant information related to International Day of Yoga - 2016. The portal will also have links of all the important web pages of the Government of India such as Swachh Bharat, Make in India etc.

EPFO doubled insurance to Rs 6 lakh for its 4 crore subscribers
The Government has enforced the decision of retirement fund body EPFO to almost double the maximum sum assured under its insurance scheme from 3.6 lakh to Rs 6 lakh for its 4 crore subscribers. 

Earlier in September, the employee Provident Fund Orgainisation's apex decision making body Central Board of Trustees (CBT) had decided to increase benefits under the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme from Rs 3.6 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. However, the notification to amend the scheme could not be issued by Labour Ministry as it was stuck in the Law Ministry.
